1st Chivenor Cubs • Scouting is one of the great success stories of the last 100 years. From an experimental camp for 20 boys on Brownsea island in 1907, it has spread to 216 countries and territories, with an estimated 28 million members. Here at 1st Chivenor we offer fun & everyday adventure whilst working towards awards & badges that Cub Scouts wear on their uniform. • Cubs is the second section of the Scouting movement & we have girls & boys at 1st Chivenor from 8 years to 10 1/2 though this can be negotiable, under some circumstances some children can start a little younger & stay with us a little longer. • We run a wide & varied programme & Cubs will be able to try various activities including abseiling, archery, assault courses, bivvy building, climbing, shooting, tunnelling. Cubs learn useful skills such as 1st aid, computing, cooking, craft, fire lighting & tracking. • Cub Scouts go on pack outings, we also have sleepovers, residentials & camping. • We offer Everyday Adventure to Children, when a Cub conquers their fear of heights by abseiling for the first time, that is adventure. We want all young people to achieve their potential, we give them the chance to stretch themselves,to learn & make new friends. Join the adventure on Mondays at Southmead School
