Injection Team Report: Successful Beam Transfer and Emittance Conservation

DESCRIPTION

The injection team, led by B. Goddard, reports successful full intensity batches injected with no issues observed. The results are comparable to Q26 in terms of injection losses, trajectories, and emittance preservation. Upgrades have been made to the extraction settings in SPS, and longer bunch lengths (1.65 ns) have proven acceptable with manageable losses. The system is nearly ready for deployment, pending minor checks. TI8 dispersion measurements indicate injection losses at approximately 10% of dump level, with emittances conserved at injection.

  1. Q20 MD results B.Goddard for injection team and colleagues

  2. Q20 extraction, transfer and injection MD • Full intensity batches injected – physics filling scheme • No issues seen – comparable to Q26 for injection losses, trajectories, protection, emittance preservation, capture • Some tidying up done of extraction settings in SPS • Longer bunch length (1.65 ns) preferred (losses OK) • Basically ready for deployment from beam transfer side (some small checks needed)

  3. TI8 dispersion measurements

  4. 144b injection losses around 10% of dump level

  5. Injected emittances • Emittances conserved at injection (matching good!) B2H B1H B1V B2V
