Tips for Photographing Your Art Work
Light Light should be equal Set up the shot so that light falls evenly over the artwork. Diffused natural light works well. Shooting outdoors on a cloudy day is one option. If using natural light indoors, the light source should be broad and coming from one direction to avoid glare. If using dedicated lights indoors, daylight balanced bulbs (5,000 K) are recommended. Lights should be set at 45 degrees to the subject and at equal distances. Adjust camera white balance to the type of light you are using. Lens should be centered. When using dedicated lights, the lens and the subject should be centered between them. The artwork should fill most of the image frame in your camera or iphone. Lens/phone should be parallel to the art work and the line of sight should be perpendicular to the center of the work.
Focus • Avoid blur photo: Use a tripod • If possible, photograph work NOT under glass.
