  2. History of the Olympic Games • The Olympic Games are an international sports festival that began in ancient Greece. The original Olympics included competitions in music, oratory and theatre performances. The modern Games represent a lot more sports than before. • Pierre de Coubertin, a French nobleman, brought the Olympic Games back to life in 1896.

  3. History of the Olympic Games • The first Winter Olympic Games were held in1924. The Olympics are governed by the IOC. It is situated in Lausanne, Switzerland. Now we are looking forward to the Winter Olympiad in Sochi in 2014.

  4. Sports in Sochi 2014: • Biathlon • Bob: bobsled and skeleton • Curling • Ice Hockey • Luge • Figure skating, short track speed skating and speed skating • Skiing: Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping , freestyle skiing and snowboarding

  6. My favourite sports are hockey and biathlon • Hockey is a very popular team game played on ice. In Canada it is a national sport. I like to play and watch hockey. It helps me to become strong and healthy.
