Articulate Quizmaker Tutorials http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/articulate-quizmaker.aspx http://www.articulate.com/blog/the-beginners-guide-to-quizmaker-09/ http://www.articulate.com/products/quizmaker-demos.php
Quizmaker Templates With Player Templates, you can modify how the player looks and choose which features you want available in your quizzes and surveys. Note: If your quiz slides include screenshots, prevent scaling & loss in image quality by setting player size to Lock presentation at optimal size.
Transparent Template/ Player Templates • Choose Colors and Effects, and then click the Editbutton next to the color scheme. • Using the selector at the bottom of the color scheme editor, choose Frame and then select any frame element. Change its transparency to 100%. • Continue doing this for the other elements in the frame until all of them are set to 100% transparent. Customize your quiz player template http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/making-your-quiz-look-seamless-with-your-presenter-project.aspx
Transparent Template/ Player Templates • Click OK and name the new color scheme you just created. Once you do this, the new color scheme will automatically get applied to your quiz player template. Customize your quiz player template
Transparent Template/ Player Templates • Mark the box that saysInclude slide master behind quizzes and interactions. • Finally, you’ll need to think about what kind of slide master layout you want to show through from behind your quiz, and apply that layout to the quiz placeholder slide: Tell Presenter to let your master slide show through
Using a Picture as a Hint • Whenever you add an image to Slide View in Quizmaker, you can add a zoom function such that when the learner clicks on it, the picture will expand to full size. • So the secret here is to make the image invisible and only appear when the zoom button is clicked. • And you can do that by making the image so small on the slide that it is just not seen. Making an image 1 pixel by 1 pixel effectively hides the image altogether. http://daveperso.mediaenglishonline.com/2011/03/23/adding-question-hints-in-quizmaker-09/
Adding Flash Videos There could be a time where you’d like the user to view an animation or video. You could insert a flash movie any page. Layer transparent objects over video in @Articulate #Quizmaker. http://www.screenr.com/MN37
Annotate Videos • Flash movies play on the top level in Presenter ’09 which means that you cannot put graphics on top of them to label them or describe them. • Quizmaker ’09 is now so advanced that you can put a graphic on top of a Flash movie and then play another movie on top of that graphic! Add Player Controls to Video Add your video to the slide Select the option to add a playbar and then export to Articulate Presenter.
5 Common Question Mistakes Good examples of animations, using video for questions, using blank slides for feedback. http://community.articulate.com/downloads/p/706.aspx
Using a Timeline You may want to have content on the slide appear in stages. Can use for content or question slides! • Open the question you’re editing • Click Slide View • Open the Timeline at the bottom of the window • Move your text boxes/image to different time markers on the timeline • Grab and move the red play bar right and left to see the content appear/disappear. Leverage that Articulate Quizmaker '09 timeline. What? What Timeline? Check it out! http://www.screenr.com/TH37
Timeline • Objects are layered on the timeline. The top-most layered object on the slide is also at the top of the timeline. • If you click on an object, it is highlighted in the timeline. • To change the layer order of the objects, drag the layer up or down in the timeline. • You can also change the object’s position on the timeline by dragging it from left to right. This will change when the object first appears. • To change the object’s duration, select it and then click and drag its end points. • To change the name of the layers, double-click on the object name and type your own description. You can name the layers to make it easy to find objects. • Locking the layer keeps you from making accidental changes to it. When it’s locked you can’t accidentally change the layer in the timeline or move the object on the screen. • You can hide the layer so it’s not visible. This is helpful when you want to reduce clutter and focus on making changes to a particular object. http://www.screenr.com/EbW
Build Video Quizzes in Articulate Quizmaker If you want to make sure learners see important videos, you can delay showing your quiz questions until after your video finishes. And, since the video and questions are on the same slide, learners can easily review the video for information they missed. Simply use the timeline in slide view to control the timing of your video and questions. http://www.articulate.com/blog/how-to-build-video-based-questions-in-articulate-quizmaker/

Cumulative Scoring Only one quiz can be used to determine completion status – but what if you want to have cumulative status of several quizzes in the course? • Create your entire course in Quizmaker, using blank slides for content. • Include questions wherever you want them. • Score at the end of the course.
Customizing Results Page • Turn off Pass/Fail Results page: • Use this when using Quizmaker for interactions that are not scored. I use this for scenario interactions. • Note: Disabling one page DOES NOT disable another page. • Customize the look by using Slide View button. • Finishing Action (Slide Properties): Go To URL – great way to take students to a Resource page.
Branching Users that Pass vs. Fail Send participants that pass the test to a congratulations page. Send the participants that fail to a review page. • Insert the quiz into PowerPoint (done with Articulate Presenter) • Quizzes and Interactions window appears • In the Quiz Properties area, where a user goes when they Pass and Fail
Creating Question Feedback • Adjust your quiz player template for Submit one question at a time. • Turn feedback on by question. • Enter and save your feedback. • Save and close. Give customized feedback to your users for each question they answer. http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/customizing-question-feedback.aspx E
