  7. Sperm Whales • Largest toothed whales • Box-shaped head • S shaped blowhole on the left side of its head • Live in both cool and tropical waters • Live up to 70 years • Can dive up to 10,500 ft. • 200,000 worldwide

  8. Narwhals • Long tusk that protrudes out of the upper jaw • Grow up to 16 ft. and weigh1.8 tons • Sleek body and no dorsal fin • Live in Arctic waters • Live up to 50 years • 10,000-45,000 in existence • Name means “corpse whale”

Beluga Whales • Small, stout, and streamline • Known for their ghostly white skin • Grow up to 15 ft. and weigh 3,300 lbs • Can dive up to 2,100 ft, but usually dive 66 ft • Live in Arctic waters, but migrate in summer • Live up to 30 years • 40,000-80,000 worldwide • Name means “white one” in Russian

  10. Bottlenose Dolphins • Sleek, streamlined, have beaks • Can grow 8-9 ft and up to 600 lbs • Can live up to 48 years • Very intelligent and sociable • Found in tropical waters all over the world • Have coordinated hunting patterns • Population unknown, but 243,000 live in the Pacific

  11. Orcas • Member of the dolphin family • Inhabit all oceans of the world • Largest predatory mammals – 22 ft. • 8,000 – 12,000 lbs • Live around 50 years • Live and hunt in packs • Called sea wolves • Unknown population

  12. Harbor Porpoise • Smallest porpoises • Only 4-6 ft and 150 lbs • Live up to 20 years • Located in coastal waters in the Northern Hemisphere • Can dive a few hundred feet • Come up every 25 seconds to breathe • Group name is called a shoal • Unknown population
