Food • Staples: bread, potatoes • Vegetables: parsnips, swede, turnips, carrots, cabbages, leeks, onions, lettuce and tomatoes. • meets: roast mutton, chicken, pork and (most famously) beef. • Stews made from beef and mutton, minced meet sausages, and pies (stews covered in a pastry). • Dairy: milk butter, cheese and eggs. • Baked products: cakes and scones and (very famously) puddings • Beverages:Tea and still (bitter) beer. • The traditional English cooking is simple and does not involve allot of sauce or addition of wine etc, as compared to the French tradition.

Fashion • As the UK is very much a western society - we wear very much the same as any other modern western society - ranging from Jeans and Tee shirts (whether with designer labels or not) to full business suits for office work (if required). Special clothers for the climate include heavy overcoats or anoraks for cold wintry weather to raincoats and umbrellas, for weather rain. Materials used cover every type and colour of fabric available, especially consider that Britain is a multi cultural society and in certain cities (Bradford for an example) you will find many stores with very colourful silk available for making in Sari's and other ethnic clothes.

Fashion Footware Footwarecan be from the likes of Nike and Addidas Trainers (sneakers) to Leather Brogues (Wingtips) and for ladies - also the trainers to highly fashionable boots and shoes with heels or without. Clothes worn by children When they are relaxing at home or out playing with their friends, children in England wear comfortable clothes like t-shirts, jeans and sportwear. The right clothes are very important to teenagers, and many love to shop for the latest fashions. Where do English tenagers shop? In shops like TopShop, Oasis, Kookai, Warehouse, and Miss Sixty. At School Most children wear a school uniform when they are at school. In some schools children must wear jackets and ties. In other schools the uniform is more casual.

Customs Gift Giving Etiquette •The British exchange gifts between family members and close friends for birthdays and Christmas. •The gift need not be expensive, but it should usually demonstrate an attempt to find something that related to the recipient’s interests. •If invited to someone's home, it is normal to take along a box of good chocolates, a good bottle of wine or flowers.

  8. Holidays Crufts A famous annual British dog show which started in 1928. It is held at the NEC in Birmingham. The "Best in Show" award is presented on the final day (Sunday). Commonwealth Day People use the day to promote understanding about global issues, international co-operation and the work of the modern Commonwealth. Each year there is a different theme.
