  3. A misplaced modifier is simply a word or phrase describing something that is not placed near enough to the word it is supposed to modify. Misplaced Modifiers • The modifying word or phrase is not dangling; no extra words are needed; the modifier is just in the wrong place.

  4. Dangling Modifiers • A dangling modifier is a word or phrase that modifies a word not clearly stated in the sentence.
