About Carl Orff • Orff was born in Munich on July 10th 1895. • As a young boy Orff studied piano, organ, and cello. • All his works were vocal and they were published when he was 16 years old. • He attended the Munich Academy of Music and graduated in 1914 at the age of 19. Three year later he was called to work in the army to fight in the first world war. • He married Alice Solscher in 1920 and she was his first of four wives. In 1921 his daughter Godela is born. His other wives were Alice Solscher,LuiseRinser, LiselotteSchmitz.

  3. What did Carl do? • Carl Orff was a German composer, conductor, and teacher. • He is for the most part known for his assistance in helping children learn about music. He used percussion instrument to help expand their knowledge of rhythm. • Mary Wigman was a woman that Orff worked with and she was an influence on his musical career.

  4. Meaning • The "CarminaBurana" was mostly about things we face in our lives such as love, sex, drugs, drinking, and fate. • It was written for entertainment.
