  3. I. Analyze Learners • 7-8 year olds • For 2ndgraders • Lessons based on ideas that most music class only 30 minuets long.

State Objectives • MU.O.G.MK-2.104- Echo a simple rhythmic pattern. • MU.O.GMK-2.1.06- Perform Rhythms using quarter notes, quarter rests, beamed eighth notes, half notes and half rests. • MU.O.GMK-2.1.10- demonstrate strong and weak beats through movement. • MU.O.GMK-2.1.12- Perform an accompaniment to a song, i.e., rhythm instruments, melodic instruments, or body percussion. • 21C.O.PK-2.1.LS.3-Student articulates thoughts and ideas, representative of real and imaginary experiences, clearly and effectively through oral, written or multimedia communication.

Utilize Media and Materials Days 1-2 • Reading Musical notes and rests. • Explain differences between notes and rests. • Show what different notes and rests look like. • Game- note writing competition Also for optional homework the students can go to Musicteacher.com and do activities on the site. • Optional homework- EnchantedLearning.com-Activities

  8. Utilize Media and Materials continued.. Days 3-5 • Teach simple rhythms • Mimicking exercises • Read and class simple songs-Bussongs.com • Worksheets Day 4 • Homework- Half page paper- describing everything they’ve learned so far.

  9. Utilize Media and Materials continued… Day 6 • Musical Instruments-simple songs/rhythms. Days 7-8 • Paper- write about everything they learned in this unit. Day 9 • Jeopardy

  10. Require Learner Participation • To keep students on task I plan to : • Give them enough work to keep them busy. • Group activities • Papers • Packet Worksheets

  11. Evaluate and Revise • Worksheets • Papers • Group Activities • Games • Mimicking Exercises • Jeopardy

Evaluate and Revise continued.. • MU.O.GMK-2.1.04- The students will do mimicking exercises and that will be there participation grades for the day. • MU.O.GMK-2.1.06- I will let the students play with instruments, and then I will have them play certain rhythms on the instruments. • MU.O.GMK-2.1.10- The students will demonstrate strong and weak beats for me on the musical instruments that they will use in class. • MU.O.GMK-2.1.12- I will play a song over the sound system and the students will use the instruments that they are using in class that day to play or imitate the rhythm of the song. • 21C.O.PK-2.1.LS.3- The students will write two papers for the class explaining what they have learned in the class.
