  2. CILIPS North East Branch • Who are we? • One of three active branches of CILIP members in Scotland • Based in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Shetland with links to CILIP members in the Highlands and Orkney • Drawn from public, research, school, university and workplace libraries

CILIPS North East Branch • What do we do? • Organise free or low-cost professional events locally • Provide a local network allowing you to meet other professionals working in different sectors • Represent our members at CILIPS Council • Sponsor places at conferences and events • Work closely with Grampian Information advocating and promoting information management, libraries and information professionals

CILIPS North East Branch • Why should you get involved? • When will you next get the chance to chat to: • The President of CILIPS? • The head of service of a major university research library? • Senior staff from the National Library of Scotland? • Who will you get in touch with when: • You’re looking for a job or placement? • You need advice on what other organisations facing the same challenges are doing? • No-one in your organisation understands what you’re on about? • How will you keep up to date: • With everything from industry initiatives to web 2.0 technologies? • When there’s no money for training? • With the wider profession?
