NADP Operating Procedures • NADP collects precipitation samples once a week • Samples are mailed to a central laboratoryin Illinois • There are about 230 NADP sites in the national network • They all operate:- the same equipment- the same collection day- the same laboratory for chemical analyses • Thus the data are comparable across sites

  4. Initial Installation Costs • Belfort rain gauge — $4,000 • NADP wet chemistry collector — $4,000 • Solar panels and batteries — $1,000

  5. Operating Costs • Operating — $5,836 per year to NADP- includes $1,000 for network administration- $4,836 for chemical analysis, mailing supplies, etc. • Mailing samples to NADP — about $10/week • Field technician to collect samples
