Purpose of Study • Develop algorithm to “easily” count citations of NADP data products in the peer-reviewed literature • Can we classify citations by type? • How have publication counts changed over the history of the program? • How do publication counts and classification types change with significant events? (e.g., new legislation, and/or historic events)

Future Work • Find method to export citations to data management software (e.g., RefWorks) for further analysis • Mine citation data to evaluate trends in publications over time (e.g., Journal Impact Factor) • Determine means on how NADP data are cited • Cited in bibliographies, only referred to within the text only, only in acknowledgements • Seek to increase “full and proper attribution for datasets” in bibliographies?
