Therefore it should not be a surprise to you that the proliferation tracks along the flexor tendon sheath of the small finger. The underlying process is rheumatoid arthritis. This case is a clear example that RhA affects any synovium, here around a tendon, not necessarily in a joint. A thorough debridement of the rice bodies and the tenosynovium followed by good medical control of the RhA will allow for restoration of nearly normal motion and likely prevent any significant recurrence.
