Tremendous number of opportunities for cross-training, joint decision making, building teamwork……. At least 2 staff (and client) present) the specialist takes leadership

  8. Ohio Coordinating Center for ACT #10 Co-staffing the “Treatment cycle” (Core Processes) Treatment cycle: Assessment >> Service Planning>> Service>> Evaluation Belief: Co-staffing builds teamwork through: In-vivo learning (by staff)

  9. Ohio Coordinating Center for ACT#10 Co-staffing the TX cycle Conduct TX Planning Meetings with multiple staff: Service Planning Minimum: 6 people (roles) involved 3 in creating 3 in reviewing continual feedback from whole team (this is really in evaluation)

Ohio Coordinating Center for ACT #7 “Morning Meetings”: “backbone” of ACT • Focus on today • Organizational Meetings (not clinical) • Staff to come with significant OPEN time • Note work assignments • Use a cardex to cover EVERY client • Use whiteboards • Client and staff schedules • Specific efforts

  15. Ohio Coordinating Center for ACT #6 Co-Supervision by Team Leader and Psychiatrist • Unifies team's clinical positions • Review/ID staff needs • Psychiatrist to lead cl sup group at least 1-2 x a month • Lunch • Extra meeting • At Team meeting (shared with “regular” activities)

Ohio Coordinating Center for ACT #5 Incorporate client (and family) into TX decisions • If client “drives” care it is clear who is in charge • Get client to all Assessemtn/ISP/Evaluion meetings • Focus team on client centered care • #1 goal is to identify what client wants and help them achieve • Rotate family contact

Ohio Coordinating Center for ACT #2 Develop shared communication means and protocols • How do you communicate: MM mins., Implementing TX Decisions, On-call, Announcements, etc…? • Develop Protocols: VM/ White Board/TM mins distribution/ Mail Box/ Cell phone /Email • Think about creating “Shift Leader” • No Voicemail policy • Hold people accountable for agreed upon means of communication
