  2. VD-A GDAF activities • A) Experience in RR-based optical filter design and fiber-optic prototypes characterization • B) DWDM/CWDM network equipment. Fiber access hybrid topologies design and testing for communications systems possible. • C) Optical power equalization through PDLC VOAs under study for GI-POF access networks.

  3. A) RR-based DWDM filters • RR+Sagnac/LC: Tunable ADM • RR+Sagnac+SOA: Tunable selective filters. Lasing potential under research. • RR+Michelson (w/ FBGs): - selective tunable filters Fiber-optic prototypes at UC3M

  4. Example of configurations schematics Proposal for tunable ring laser w/ Michelson interf. RR w/ internal Sagnac loop

  5. B) CWDM/DWDM equipment • Fiber optic network access strategies design and characterization capabilities • RF-pilot based WDM network monitoring potential • CWDM + FBG fiber-optic sensor network configuration studied, implemented and reported.

  6. Hybrid CWDM/DWDM Broadband Passive Optical Network (B-PON) Fiber access link length increase by means of efficient routing

  7. CWDM self-referenced FOS network in reflective operation

  8. Summary • GDAF experience and potential presented regarding VD-A activities • GDAF is highly interested in integrated-optics fabrication capabilities as regards: • Micro-ring-resonators, Sagnac loops, Liquid crystals integration • Tunable ADM and dispersion control modules (DCM) design and fabrication for Broadband access • GDAF is highly interested in innovative access topologies design, characterization and monitoring joint research with ePhoton/One+ partners.
