  3. Regulatory body- • consisting of professionals. • Gives an exam and maintains a list of individuals that have passed • (CLT, OT's, RT's, ATC) Registration

  4. Government regulated· • individuals are licensed or permitted to work in a state; • have to complete an accredited education program and a state exam. • e.g. PA's, RN's, LPN's, MD's, DMD's Licensure

  5. CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION and LICENSURE Certification- Means that a person has fulfilled requirements of education and performance. They meet the standards set by the professional association or government agencycertified medical assistantdental assistantRegistration- required by some health careers. Accreditation • Accreditation- must complete education from an approved site before registration or license will be granted. • Ensures program of study meets established quality • Meets established competencies • Prepares you for a health career • Two major accrediting programs for health care programs • CAAHEP-commission on accreditation of allied health education programs • ABHES-Accrediting bureau of health education schools. • You should make sure you are enrolled in an accredited program!!!!
