PURPOSE OF MEETING • A soul-searching exercise? • To review & evaluate C2S mandate, organization (structure and • personnel), activities and methodology • 2) To identify the strengths and weaknesses of C2S as of today • 3) To suggest a change (or no change) in: • mandate • organization: structure and personnel • activities • methodology • To examine the strengths and weaknesses of the new organization •  seek consensus to approve and implement it

OUTLINE OF PRESENTATION • (please allow everyone 10 minutes per topic; thus the meeting will be about 2 hours long – that should leave enough time for eating and drinking to follow) • Why was C2S created? • What is C2S’s mandate at present? • Who have been actively involved? • How has C2S been carrying out its mandate? • What are present strengths? • What are present weaknesses? • What will be C2S mandate in the future? same or different than before? • Who will need to be involved and why? • How to re-organize C2S to carry out the new mandate? • What will be the strengths of the new organization? • What will be the weaknesses of the new organization? • Does everyone approve the structure of the new organization and • want to move forward to implementing it?

  4. WHY WAS C2S CREATED? WHAT IS C2S’s MANDATE AT PRESENT?

  5. WHO HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY INVOLVED? What is the current structure of the organization? a) an ad-hoc committee? b) what is the method for making decision? What are the present roles? and who filled them? What else, folks?

  6. HOW HAS C2S BEEN CARRYING OUT ITS MANDATE? Means of communication? Email, telephone, postal mail Effectiveness of means of communication? What does C2S do in North America? What are the goals vs. activities? Who are the contacts in North America? Does C2S achieve its goals in N. America through its activities? What does C2S do in Vietnam? What are the goals vs. activities? Who are the contacts in Vietnam? Does C2S achieve its goals in Vietnam through its activities?

  8. HOW DID C2S DO THUS FAR? Having the goals, the structure of the organization, the people, the activities identified and having the strengths and weaknesses reviewed, let’s evaluate C2S performance. This evaluation table is meant to capture the overall “state of the union”. It is to summarize the details discussed on the previous pages. Legend: a) 1 being bad; 10 being good b) add all the points and divide by 6 to get an average; above 5 is a good indication c) if the score is below 5, have another drink (on me) and then repeat the exercise
