  2. 2009 Grant update: Update • Apparatus: • Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (FEMA) for a new Fire Engine to replace the 1982 American La France. • Denied. • Fire Station: • American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Fire Station Construction Grants program (FEMA) to construct a new fire station in order to replace fire station #2. • Denied. • Cardiac Heart Monitors: • Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (FEMA) Cardiac Heart Monitors to replace current aging monitors. Total $108,750 with an 80/20 match for $21,750. • Approved. • Training: • State of California Homeland Security Grant Program for enhanced training. Total $4012 with no match. • Approved • Interoperable Communications: • State of California Homeland Security Grant Program for ultra high band width mobile radios to be installed in all Fire Department Vehicles to communicate more effectively with neighboring Fire Departments and law enforcement. Total $25,000 with no match. • Approved. • Total 2009 Grant application amount. $3,634,399. • Total 2009 Grant applications approved. $116,762. • Total 2009 Grant application City matching funds. $21,750.

  3. 2010 Grants submitted: • Apparatus • Submitted grant application to the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program facilitated through FEMA to replace the 1995 Mack. fire engine. • Total amount $250,000 • Federal share $220,300. • City share $55,075 • Equipment • Submitted grant application to the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program facilitated through FEMA to acquire CPR compression machines. • Total amount $72,000. • Federal share $62,640. • City share $15,660. • Communications • Submitted grant application to the State of California Homeland Security Grant Program for handi-talki radios both VHF and UHF bandwidths. • Total amount $27,265. • State share 100% with no City matching funds.

  4. January through the end of June 2010, total of 2803 responses. • The Fire Department averaged a total of 15.3 responses per day in the City. • In total, calls for service are slightly down from this time last year.

  5. Currently response times are averaging 4.18 minutes to all corners of the City. • This is slightly down from the last report when the average response times were 4.8. • The highest response times are calls for service into the furthest East portion of the City at Wildwood Canyon and Oak Glen Rd

  6. Numbers of responses by type for Station # 1, total responses were 1076.

  7. Numbers of responses by type for Station # 2, total responses were 623.

  8. Numbers of responses by type for Station # 3, total responses were 1104
