  1. The Dignity of Marriage This Mystery is a Profound One – Eph 5:32

  2. And God Made them… “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being…” - Genesis 1:26,2:7 RSV

  3. And God gave them a mission… “God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it’ - Genesis 1:28

  4. In His Image Living as Co – Creators With God

  5. “I have gotten a man!” “Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain saying, ‘I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord.” - Genesis 4:1

  6. Perfected in Jesus Jesus turns water into wine at the wedding in Cana “and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him” – John 2:11 “In his preaching Jesus unequivocally taught the original meaning of the union of man and woman as the Creator willed it from the beginning” – CCC 1614

  7. Marriage is covenantal Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked, and were not ashamed Gen 2:24-25

  8. Marriage is a One Flesh Union “Since God created him man and woman, their mutual love becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves man. It is good, very good, in the Creator’s eyes.” - CCC 1604 “Marriage is indissoluble: God himself has determined it: ‘what therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder” - CCC 1614, Mt 19:6

  9. Man and Woman as equal “Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…” - Ephesians 5:21-25

  10. The dignity of the Human Person Every human person is a unique creation of God, in His image, and as such every person has a dignity special to him or her. This dignity cannot be violated without sinning against God.

  11. The Dignity of the Body Let us make man in our image, after our likeness – Gen 1:26

  12. The Dignity of Marriage Conjugal love reveals its true nature and nobility when it is considered in its supreme origin, God, who is love. – John Paul II, Theology of the Body, 431.

  13. Are you Ready? Marriage Is Sacrificial. Marriage is a profound Mystery. Marriage is a one flesh Union.

  14. True Intimacy The true state of being in love is a blissful, awakened condition of the soul. The sexual ecstasy, especially, goes to the very depth of our bodily existence; in its overwhelming power it is something extraordinary, something to which only terrible bodily pains are a counterpart. Dietrich Von Hildebrand
