Partnerships 1992 – Today! • HMSC – early program development and staffing • OCA – volunteer training program, shared staffing, membership programs • OCCC – shared staffing/Aquarium Sciences • Yaquina Head & Tide Pools – field trip coordination and referrals • LCSD – classroom colleagues and facilities • MDT - supportive curriculum, referrals and development opportunities

  4. The DISCOVERY ~Oregon’s floating classroom! • Largest passenger boat on the Coast, at 65-ft, with seating for a bus load - up to 49! • U.S. Coast Guard inspected vessel; safety equipment & drills.

Student Programs • 2-hour Sea Life Cruise • Ocean exploration - as conditions permit • Safety talk, sea life viewing, crabbing activity, plankton, navigation station, harbor tour • 2-hour Explorer Cruise • ¾ Estuary, ¼ Ocean - as conditions permit • Safety talk, harbor tour, plankton, trawl net / touch tanks, navigation station, sea life viewing • 1-hour Estuary Crabbing Cruise • Estuary exploration • Safety talk, crabbing demonstration, plankton, wheelhouse visit, sea life viewing

Ocean Literacy Scholarships • The Bandon Submarine Cable Council (BSCC) is a group of Oregon’s commercial trawl fishermen who are interested in enhancing the education of Oregon’s youth regarding fisheries and marine conservation issues. • For the 10th year, the BSCC allocated $20,000 in scholarship funds to Marine Discovery Tours, due to our demonstrated leadership in unique hands-on marine field trip programs. • In 2011, 1,013 students benefited from this program - 183 were from LCSD –applications are easy!
