  2. Step 1 Pre-reading P14 Ex1 1) Discussion: Have you seen some film in which the sea is important? What did you think of it? Titanic: I’ve seen Titanic. It’s a wonderful film. When the ship sank into the sea, Jack and Rose thought of love as the most important thing. The pictures and the music are also very beautiful. Jaws: I’ve seen Jaws. It’s about a dangerous killer shark. It is very frightening. 2)Fast reading: more background about films

  3. On April 10, 1912, Titanic set sail from Southampton to New York. At that time, she was the largest and most luxurious(豪华的) ship ever built. At 11:40 PM on April 14, 1912, she struck an iceberg about 400 miles off Newfoundland, Canada. Less than three hours later, the Titanicplunged into the bottom of the sea. Although she was originally designed to carry 42 lifeboats, the ship carried only 20 lifeboats. Of 2,227 people on board, only 705 people were rescued; 1523 drowned or froze to death in the icy water. most of those who drowned were Americans.

  4. In the year 2500, the world is covered with water. The earth is rare. People there dreamed of the world we have today. On a girl’s back, there’s a map, from which you can find the land. So the pirates(海盗) want to get it. So there’re fights between the pirates and the girl’s protector. At last, the girl won and they got to the land, but they didn’t think it’s their ideal land.

  5. It tells us a story which happened in a town by the seashore. The town is very small, but in summer it attracts lots of travelers to swim here. But this summer, when a young man and a young woman went to swim, the young woman never came back. Do you know why? 1975 A big white shark attacks swimmers.
