Full-text newspapers via OxLIP • 18th Century Journals II contains issues of 17 British newspaper titles from the University of Texas including the York Chronicle and London Journal • 19th Century British Library Newspapers contains issues of 48 British newspapers from the British Library including The Daily News, Pall Mall Gazette, Reynolds’s Newspaper, Jackson’s Oxford Journal • Chronicling America contains issues from 1897-1910 of 50 American newspaper titles including the New York Tribune and the Washington Times • Proquest American historical newspapers includes the Chicago Defender 1905-1975, New York Times 1851-2004, Washington Post 1877-1990 • The Times Digital Archive 1785-1985 • The Economist Historical Archive 1843-2003 • The Times Literary Supplement Centenary Archive 1902-1990

  3. Why online newspapers? • Indexes newspapers for which there was previously no indexing • Find material which would not have been indexed (advertising material, minor references within an article) • Articles and pages can be easily printed off or saved for future reference
