  2. Get your plan sheet ready • In groups, read step 4 “calculate your flying time” • In groups, analyze the text and orally discuss the math and other skills we need to complete the task. • Check: Are you thinking what I am thinking? • Click to find out.

  3. Math skills - Interpret and use timetables • Working out journey times. (Add and subtract time)

  4. Assessment for step 4 • In a table, record all your flight data including information such as destination and departure cities, flight departure and arrival times, flight information (date/time), flying time and distance travelled. • This table will form part of your itinerary. Example:

  5. Interpret and use timetables • A self test task: You are about to travel to a national park in Victoria. You are required to practise using 24-hour time; select departure and arrival locations on a map of Australia and New Zealand; use a timetable to book the most suitable flight.   6. Interpret and use timetables Ask yourself these questions: -Do I know how to use 24 hour time? -Can I read the flight timetables? Are there any other strategies you can use? Not confident in working out the journey times?
