Introduction/Welcome “Fostering access to data and increasing transparency in government is one of the hallmarks of civic engagement and a crucial driver of innovation.  That’s why I’m so excited about the Massachusetts Open Data Initiative.  From empowering residents to take part in their government and communities to encouraging development of new tools and applications to help citizens and businesses -- making government data more available and accessible is a worthy goal.  Massachusetts is already leading the way in information technology, and this Initiative will help us expand upon that lead in the 21st century.“ - Governor Deval Patrick
