  3. Where is China located? 1. Which continent? Answer: Asia 2. Which ocean is in the east of China? Answer: The Pacific Ocean 3. Do you know how many times the area of China is to the area of Hong Kong? Answer: 9.6 million km2. About 8696 times the area of Hong Kong!!

  5. What is the major relief of China? What is ‘relief’? Answer: the difference in height (elevation/slope) from the surrounding terrain (land) What are the 3 main kinds of relief in China? Answer: plateaus, basins and plains

  6. Plateaus, Basins, Plains Plateau Plain Plain: a broad piece of flat land just above the sea level and is ideal for farming Plateau: a flat piece of grassland high above the sea level and is suitable for grazing animals Basin Basin: a large area of flat land that is surrounded by mountains

  7. Mountain Ranges A mountain range or mountain belt is a large area containing numerous mountains close together.

  8. Rivers Rivers are a large natural stream of water flowing in a channel to the sea, a lake, or another stream.
