  41. THE PAIN OFLOVE IV. True Love Seeks to Restore Erring Saints A. Erring Saints Can Be Restored • Gal. 6:1 Painstaking work 1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

It Is Painful to Withdraw from the Stubborn • 2 Thess. 3:6 Some persist in sin 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

It Is Painful to Withdraw from the Stubborn • 1 Cor. 5:4-5 Discipline may save them 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

  44. THE PAIN OFLOVE IV. True Love Seeks to Restore Erring Saints C. It Is Painful to Expose False Teachers • 2 Jn. 9-11 They bring a different doctrine

  45. 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. • 2 Jn. 9-11 They bring a different doctrine

  46. THE PAIN OFLOVE IV. True Love Seeks to Restore Erring Saints D. Confronting Sin in the Church Saves Souls • 2 Cor. 7:8-11 Painful warning, then joy!

  47. 8 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. 9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. • 2 Cor. 7:8-11 Painful warning, then joy!

  48. 11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge!   50. 14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. 15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved. • 2 Cor. 12:14-15 Love not returned
