Who is Quietside? • With two locations, on opposite coasts • West Coast location is in Santa Fe Springs CA • East Coast location is in Carlisle PA • Third location in the Dallas/Fort Worth area opening 2008 • Quietside distributes these products, plus Samsung Mini Splits, Quietside Mini Splits from these locations

  3. Who is Quietside? • Both locations provide Customer service and shipping but most importantly : • Full Technical Support and Training is available in both locations • Both locations have bespoke classrooms and hands on training laboratories

What is a Dual Purpose Water Heater • A Dual Purpose Water Heater is a unit that will provide both heating water for space heating and also potable domestic hot water for washing from a single unit without any additional controls required • Domestic hot water is given priority over the space heating, and is activated by flow through the domestic hot water system • DHW is “on demand” and continuous, it will be provided as long as the faucet is open • Once DHW call is completed the unit will revert to heating the house as required

What is a Dual Purpose Water Heater • It is not called a Boiler in North America unlike the rest of the world, this is because • It does not provide closed loop heating water at a temperature above 176 DegF • It does not have an ASME H stamp, therefore cannot be used in areas where this is a requirement • Internal Water Volume is less than 1 gallon • Therefore these units are certified by ANSI Z21.10.3-2004/CSA 4.3-2004 as a gas water heater

DAESUNG CELTIC is a Korean Gas boiler manufacturer established in 1982 Joint investment agreement with Chaffoteaux et Maury Annually they produce and supply over 150,000 gas boiler products to Korea and world wide market. Currently selling product to North America, China, Russia, and several CIS countries

  9. DPW Model Features • All units are fully modulating in capacity • DPW-099 • Range 47,800 – 99,000 Btu/h • DPW-120 • Range 47,800 – 120,000 Btu/h • Closed loop heating water temperature range 122-176 DegF • DHW temperature setting 98-114 DegF, 120, 130 and 140 DegF

  10. DPW Model Features • Wet recuperative HX manufactured from Aluminum Alloy • Removes latent heat from the flue gas to increase efficiency • By product is condensate, which is drained away from the unit via the condensate siphon • Condensate is slightly acidic – PH level 5

  11. DPW Model Features • Exhaust and Inlet vent connections for 3” diameter Schedule 40 PVC • Flue gas temperature, max 136 DegF • Max flue length 45ft equivalent, max 3 elbows • Vent termination included

  12. DPW Model Features • Components included include • Primary loop circulator provides flow for either the Primary loop or close coupled AHU • Closed loop expansion tank – similar in size to a 20 gallon normal expansion tank

DPW Model Features • Flow switch on DHW cold inlet connection detects flow in the DHW system > 0.7 GPM • 3 Way valve energizes to direct heating loop flow through DHW HX • Unit fires to provide DHW at temperature selected until call is completed • Temperature sensor on DHW outlet measures water temperature – unit will modulate to maintain temperature

  14. DPW Model Features • Microprocessor control provides accurate control of heating water temperature and all other operational and safety features of the unit • Dip switches can be used to set up unit for various option • 3Amp fuses protect unit

  15. DPW Model Features • Unit controller included • Sets heating loop water temperature from 122 – 176DegF • Sets DHW temperature 98 – 114 DegF, 120, 130 or 140 DegF • Displays room temperature but is not a thermostat • Shows error codes and unit operation status

  16. DPW Model Features • Simple Zone wiring • Two wires are used to connect to an X – X or dry contact (zero voltage) on zone controller or switching relay • Once contact is closed unit will fire and provide heating loop water at temperature selected on controller Zone wires

  17. DPW Model Features • Self Diagnostic • 13 Specific error codes are displayed in the event of a fault occurring • Range from condensate overflow to overheat to low water level

  18. DPW Model Features • Built in closed loop strainer, located on return connection to the unit • Built in Air eliminator for the closed loop system – HOWEVER always install an additional high quality air vent – Spirotherm at highest point in the system

  19. DPW Model Features • Modulating gas Valve This allows turn down of capacity over 50% dependant on load in the systems • Spark ignition and rectification flame detection saves energy and provides safety should the unit not ignite

  20. DPW Accessories • DHW Tank – Storage tank to provide additional DHW performance for high DHW water demand applications • Buffer tank – Prevents short cycling of the heating system • LP Conversion kits to allow the unit to be field converted to LP gas supply

DPW + DHW Storage Tank • Specifically designed for use with DPW • Available in a 20 Gallon Size • Combines the continuous use of an On Demand DHW supply with the flow rate and instant hot water of a tank, allows for use of Jacuzzi tubs etc • Design allows tank to be completely depleted for a tub, but still provides hot water if a shower is taken immediately after

  22. DHW Storage Tank • Supplied with for field installation • Taco 008 Pump Assembly with internal flow check • Mixing Valve • Pressure Relief Valve • Tank Drain • Aquastat to control tank temperature

  23. DPW & TC-001 • Conversion kit for gas/electric tank water heaters • All component parts needed to turn them into a QSDHS system including • Mixing Valve • Bronze pump with integral flow check

DPW & Buffer Tank • 20 Gallon Buffer Tank • Used to prevent short cycling of the unit during mild temperature operation or if smaller zones than 20,000 Btu/h heat loss are used • Complete with all ports required and an aqua stat to provide a control input for the DPW, and maintain the set tank temp

  25. DPW & LP • LP Kit for field conversion • Unit specific, changes Nozzle assembly • Will require use of a manometer to adjust gas pressures to correct settings
