  2. What is basketball? • Basketball is a popular sport in the United States. It has two teams of five players on a rectangular court. Basketball is a fully American sport.

  3. When did basketball start? • Basketball started in December 1891.

  4. Who invented basketball? • James Naismith, an instructor in physical education at an international training school.

  5. How did basketball start? • James Naismith used a peach basket and nailed it to a balcony and used a soccerball as the basketball.

  6. What are some famous basketball teams? • They have the Lakers, Kings, Celtics, Hornets, and the Rockets.

  7. How do you play basketball? • Each team tries to keep each other from shooting a basket. When your team has the ball your on offense, when you don’t have the ball your on defense. You can take the ball and dribble it up and down the court, you can shoot the ball, or pass the ball to one of your teamates.

  8. What are the skills you need to play basketball? • You need all around skills like dribbling, shooting, rebounding, running, and passing.
