Graduate Research Assistantships in Computational Atomic, Molecular, and Surface Physics for Star Formation Studies Department of Physics and Astronomy Center for Simulational Physics The University of Georgia Two graduate research assistantships are available in the areas of computational atomic, molecular, and surface physics. The project, supported by the NASA Astrophysics Theory Program, involves computational studies of microphysical processes relevant to the modeling of star-forming regions and other molecular astrophysical environments. Topics to be considered include photon-molecule interactions, atom-atom collisions, atom-ion collisions, atom-molecule collisions, and molecule-surface interactions. The results from this work will be essential for interpreting observations from NASA space telescopes such as HST, FUSE, ISO, Spitzer, and JWST. Further, the students will also have the opportunity to work closely with astrophysical modelers incorporating their results in advanced molecular cloud simulations.
