Iditarod 2009. Research Project 3 rd and 4 th Grade Library. How it all started. This project began with the classroom reading in 3 rd grade of the story of Balto. Fourth graders read Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner and Black Star, Bright Dawn by Scott O’Dell.

This project began with the classroom reading in 3rd grade of the story of Balto. • Fourth graders read Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner and Black Star, Bright Dawn by Scott O’Dell. • Third and fourth graders did research in the library using the next 3 slides that were posted on a wiki. • The purpose of the research was to build background knowledge and improve the quality of the questions the students would ask.

Purpose • The purpose of the research was to build background knowledge and improve the quality of the questions the students would ask. • A packet of information was received from Ed and Tasha Stielstra who run Nature's Kennel Sled Dog Racing & Adventures and this was used by the lower grades. • www.natureskennel.com
