  2. Executive Summary • Purpose of the proposal: keep instrumental music at the elementary level • Pilot discussed for one site • Cost to implement .20 FTE • Facility issue • Need more time to fully explore all options • Additional ideas generated

  3. Results of meetings • Small committee met on June 23rd and 25th. • The initial proposal was discussed at length with the possibility of piloting for the 09-10 school year. • A schedule for one school was presented. An additional .20 FTE would be needed.

  4. Issues considered • Space availability • Number of instruments available • Class size/student choice? • Shift of classroom music FTE to instrumental music • Scheduling challenges • Equity with small schools • Focus on strengthening middle school program or changing elementary

  5. Committee Recommendation • After much discussion, it was determined that the district leave the configuration as is for the 09-10 school year. • During the 09-10 school year, the committee will continue to study possible changes to the current music program.
