CEOS Representation and Reporting at SBSTA-37/COP-18: Strategies for Enhanced Engagement

CEOS Representation & Reporting at SBSTA-37/COP-18 • Background: • Discussions last year with UNFCCC (Rocio Lichte) on CEOS status at COPs – not conclusive • SIT Technical meeting & Plenary Agreed CEOS representations at COP every two years • 2012 (COP-18) requires significant CEOS representation: CEOS response GCOS IP, Strategy document on Climate Monitoring Architecture, EOHB • Proposal/Options: • CEOS members solicit their UNFCCC Parties to make statement • Mark Dowell will investigate side session in EC Pavilion on Systematic Observation for Climate with CEOS (and others) – he does plan on attending • Additional CEOS attendance • WGClimate will draft a statement for SEC to review
