  4. Facts about Life… • When Snake is alive, Snake eats Ants. When Snake is dead, Ants eat Snake.Time can turn at any time. Don't neglect anyone in your life........ • A good way to change someone's attitude is to change our own. Because, the same sun melts butter, also hardens clay! Life is as we think, so think beautifully.  • Life is just like a sea, we are moving without end. Nothing stays with us, what remain is just the memories of some people who touched us as Waves.  • Whenever you want to know how rich you are? Never count your currency, just try to Drop a Tear and count how many hands reach out to WIPE that- that is true richness.  • Never change your originality for the sake of others, because no one can play your role better than you. So be yourself, because whatever you are, YOU are the best.  • Baby mosquito came back after 1st time flying. His dad asked him "How do you feel?“ He replied "It was wonderful, Everyone was clapping for me!“ Now that's what I call Positive Attitude. • VarshaKrishnaKumar, VA

  6. After March 11 • Graduation Day • By DhariniBharathi • On 14th May 2011, IISJ witnessed its graduation ceremony, an event that repeats every year. But this particular year, it cannot be passed off as yet another graduation ceremony. I’m sure IISJ will witness many more successful graduations in the coming years, but this graduation would be forgotten by none – at least by none of the graduates. • I’ve always thought that 7 was a lucky number. That being the case, I wondered – why is it that the 7th graduation wasn’t as lucky as it should have been? Our graduation was postponed due to the devastating earthquake that hit Japan on 11th March 2011 right in the midst of our board exams. Though Tokyo wasn’t as badly affected as Sendai or Fukushima, none of us were spared from the contretemps waiting for us. Our board exams had been postponed for that moment and we absolutely didn’t know what was awaiting for us next. Then, all of a sudden, things started happening so fast that I thought I was living my worst nightmare. The situation was snowballing out of control and many of us fled back to our home countries out of radiation fear and anticipation of another tremor. This was something totally unexpected. We didn’t know if we would ever come back again to Japan. The worst part was that – we hadn’t even said goodbye to ANY of our friends. That was when we truly realized what it meant to be wrenched away from your friends and the place you loved. • Fortunately, many of us returned and it was such a relief to meet our friends and teachers again and have the normal course of life restored. Despite the frequent small tremors and constant radiation fear, IISJ ran as usual – thanks to all our teachers. Our board exams were conducted in the same structure that I thought I would never see again. • Then, I realized – it had indeed been a lucky ceremony! It was the first time all of us gathered in the hall after the disaster of March! We had a grand graduation and the IISJ graduates walked onto the stage proudly with the tassels gleaming in the light. I have completed my third year here, in IISJ and I’ll say – indeed it’s a home away from home! .

  7. IISJ Premier League “Cricket to us is more than play; it is the worship in the summer sun.”  By - Sampreetapradhan Grade 12 Cricket has become synonymous with the identity of being an Indian sports enthusiast. Such is the charisma of the game in the nation and so badly are the people influenced with the aura of Cricket-stars that their glory and fan following can be witnessed in the recent cricket world cup. Cricket is a speed-driven game of passion and enthusiasm. It has emerged as one of the most popular games in India. To keep the spirit of cricket alive and to popularize the sport in Japan, India International School in Japan made plans to organize the IISJ premier league. The basic idea behind the league was to inculcate team spirit and improve the cricketing skills of amateur players. More over IISJ Premier League was a package of glitz, glamour and game. IISJ premier league began with the motto “Play for Passion, Play for fun”.The event began with the player auction on 10 June 2011 (Friday). The premier league had six teams : Dragons, Griffins ,Unicrons, Peagasus, Lions and Eagles. The owners of the teams were: Mr.Cameron and Mr.Martin (Team Dragons), Ms. Rasmee and Ms.Ritu (team griffins), Ms. Bhanoo and Ms. Hiya (team unicorns), Mr.Suresh and Mr.Rajesh (team peagasus), Ms. Rashmi (team lions) and Ms. Vinita and Ms.Preeti(team eagles). Mr. Thomas was the umpire of all the matches in the league. All the owners were from different departments , but the common thing they shared was the target to win the league . The first day of the premier league began with the group A and group B matches. The scorching heat, the burning pitch ,the sweat trickling down the fore head of the players and a chain of fours and sixes ; this was how IISJ premier league began. At last the teams which qualified for the semi- finals were Dragons, Unicorns ,Peagasus and Griffins. Meanwhile the battle for the title of the champions of the premier league was getting fiercer and irresistible. The dragons were Declared the champions of the IISJ premier League and their victory was celebrated with the lavish victory party given to the team by their owners Mr.Cameron and Mr.Martin. When asked to the captain of the winning team , NavinJinasena about the success behind their victory he said “I hate losing and cricket being my first love, once I enter the ground it's a different zone altogether and that hunger for winning is always there. I give the whole credit of winning to my teammates. If they wouldn`t have supported me we wouldn`t have won.”Mr. Cameron was filled with joy about the teams victory and said with a flashing smile “I had full trust in my team and I knew that we were going to win with Navin`s dedication, Neel`s bowling abilities, Prathamesh`s batting skills and the sincerity of the other players of the team.” Altogether IISJ Premier league was a mesmerizing event where people came to help each other, to involve themselves in the joy and sorrow of wining or losing the match. There were some moments where the spectators witnessed emotional moments .but the IISJ premier league also had spice added to it when the board was accused of helping a few teams to pass through the matches by either manipulating the score or by allowing players to use unfair means. In the end the premier league was indeed a fair play and the winning team deserved their credit. So as the motto says KEEP PLAYING FOR PASSION AND PLAY FOR FUN!!

  10. Phoenix Flare Shines in the skies of Sano By NavinJinasena (Grade XII) In one of the warm Sunday mornings, Phoenix players gathered at the Phoenix headquarters and headed into the battlefield which was situated miles away. After a tiring drive through the roads of Kanto, we managed to get to Sano, where the brand-new Sano 3 Cricket Ground was located. After the regular warm-ups, Phoenix checked their luck against My-Ys, with the toss but unfortunately it was one of those days where Lady Luck was not aboard our side. After losing the toss, Phoenix was sent in to bat first and a new pair of openers were clubbed together to see us through. Kenji took guard with Atharva at non-striker's and we were all set to go. Phoenix boys did great, opening up the account from the first ball and kept on taking sharp singles and occasional boundaries. Team was also assisted by the extras offered by opponents. In this 15-over encounter, IISJ marked their dominance by raising away to 25 off just 4 overs before Atharva got bowled mainly due to lack of Concentration to the opening pacer-Shun. Next in was the IISJ-Skipper and Shark's Opener, Navin. With Kenji nicely scooting along, Phoenix was in for a big one. Boundaries start leaking all over the ground. Singles became a rare sight and scorers start having the most difficult period of their life. Navin reached his 50 in no time as IISJ crossed 100 runs in-round 8 overs. Once the partnership reached over 100, Kenji decided to take a break and give opportunity to other players as well and he retired at the score of well-made-unbeaten 21 which included some delightful stroke-play you can ever come up with. Shubham was next to the creace and took command from first ball. With Shubham punishing bowlers at will, Navin took the back seat and concentrated much on rotating the strike. By the end of 15 overs saw Phoenix climb to the score of 196 with just loosing only one wicket. Navin was unbeaten at 88-off-36 which includes numerous boundaries and couple of hard-hit sixes. Shubham had raced his way to a very aggressive 30, individual career-best. Having a stiff-target of 197 off 15 overs, Sano openers started off decently against a much depleted IISJ Phoenix bowling line up which did not include the usual openers with the new ball Asef and Navin(taking a break), Amit and Atharva shared the work load. Shubham took charge as the stand in skipper and the man behind the stumps. Extras started to frustrate Phoenix bowlers as My-Ys played some smart cricket to steal away singles and occasional odd boundaries. But some smart decision taken by Shubham and deciplined bowling from the IISJ boys managed to restrict the opponents to 127 in their allotted over’s banking 3 wickets. IISJ won the game comfortably by 69 runs. It was a great effort by the team to beat one of the leading youth-cricket clubs in the country which is also sponsored by Japan Cricket Association(JCA). Many positives to be taken from the game as young players such as Kavin, Neel D., Sushant, Muneeb and Maku played with lot of heart and their efforts at field worth noticing. Shubham proved his capabilities as a leader and Kenji showed lot of responsibility in his batting. Amit and Atharva also chipped in with all they got and it was a good experience for many. With the curtains coming down, off went the Phoenix into the shades of dark, leaving a lasting impression on the opponents.
