  3. Objective To develop an EMS template to be used by foundries nationwide

  4. Time Frame Eighteen month period August 2001 to January 2002

  5. Procedure Use seven Indiana foundries as guinea pigs Create EMS using step-by-step segments building on each other

  6. Foundry Benefits Have a completed EMS ready for certification by the end of the eighteen month period Create an EMS with peer assistance and technical assistance at a reduced cost

  7. CMTI’s Role • Assessments (EMS and P2) • Confidential services • Assist in attaining goals VIA P2 • Non-biased evaluations • Investigate financial assistance • Aid with paperwork • Promote EMS among industry

  8. P2 Opportunities • P2 assessment in addition to GAP • Identify P2 project for foundry industry • Investigate P2 project feasibility • Incorporate P2 project

  9. Possible P2 Project Non-phenol based binder

  10. Possible P2 Benefits • Cost reduction • Phenol emission reduction by 85 tons
