  1. District III Problems with Bantam and Midget Jackie Bernard 2010

  2. Problems Concerns originally focussed on; • Lack of players at the Bantam and Midget level, especially at the Midget level • Lack of players, especially at the competitive level

  3. Bantam numbers – Nation & PGL 2010-11 – Total Bantams = 203 2011-12 – Total Bantams = 242 COMPARED TO NUMBERS FOR 2009-10; Total Bantams = 130 + 95 = 225 *** see hand-out for more detailed numbers ***

  4. Midget numbers – Nation & PGL 2010-11 – Total Midgets = 352 2011-12 – Total Midgets = 338 COMPARED TO NUMBERS FOR 2009-10; Total Midgets = 85+113+109 = 307 *** see hand-out for more detailed numbers ***

  5. Purpose/objective • To keep or recruit more players at the Bantam and Midget level • To promote the development of each player

  6. Short or long term solution ?

  7. Solutions proposed • Amalgamation of Associations, yet still play within District III • Joining other Districts to play in other competitive Leagues • Elimination of Cobra Major Midget AA or Combining Bantam & Midget with Seaway

  8. Amalgamation of associations Benefits: • May increase the number of players per team at rep level within our District • May have less players per team which means more ice time per player • Increase number of neutral evaluators per category

  9. Joining other Districts • Benefits • Provide greater development opportunities for players (Rep B or AA) • Generate more interest by players • Increase the number of teams to play against • Attention: must separate Minor Midget and Major Midget

  10. Option A • Combining necessary Association players’ to create at least 6 PGL teams – Smallest number of registrants is distributed to other needed Associations - All games will still be played within District III • St.Isidore/Hawk/VKH/Cass - Bantam • St.Isidore/Hawk/VKH – Midget • These associations are identified for next year to be the ones who will have the lowest amount of players for 2010.

  11. Option B • Apply only to Midget • PILOT PROJECT • 2 years minimum • Midget will be separated as Minor and Major • Formation of at least 2 Minor teams and at least 5 Major teams • All teams created based on number of players (smallest number of registrants is distributed to other needed Associations) • Games played within District I, II & III • Join also Juvenile teams to District I & II .
