OCG-IOP ad hoc Group • Interoperability and Testing is an ETSI strategic topic for 2006 • Hans Van der Veer (Lucent) is Board Champion • ETSI OCG –IOP is • Operational Co-ordination Group (TB Chairs)Ad hoc group on Interoperability (and testing) • Chair is Hans Van der Veer • First meeting held 23 January 2006 • The group’s primary role is to provide a horizontal co-ordination structure for issues related to interoperability. • Focus/coordinate activities on interoperability issues towards the ETSI Technical Organisation • Act as a steering group for the OCG interoperability STFs • Ensure alignment regarding related activities of PTCC • E.g., IOP test specifications and validation activities • Ensure closer alignment of PlugtestTM events with the ongoing standards development work within ETSI • Meetings will be by audio conference • Physical meetings in conjunction with OCG meetings • Contact anthony.wiles@etsi.org if you wish to participate

Main Actions for 2006 • White paper on Interoperability (and testing) • Compile feedback from TBs and other organisations • IMS/NGN testbed at ETSI • Support OCG-IOP ad hoc Group and STFs • Expand PTCC services (main task IOP issues) • Strengthen alignment of PlugtestTM with Technical Bodies • Ensure update of ETSI IOP methodologies • Produce long-term action plan (based on recommendations from the white paper)

OCG-IOP Specialist Task Forces • The ETSI Board has proposed two (project) activities to improve the strategic positioning of ETSI in the field of interoperability (B53(05)29 ) • STFs will be run under OCG-IOP ad hoc Group • Proposal 1: Development/improvement of 'Standards Engineering' process • Proposal 2: Trial Implementation of a Standards Validation Service • These projects will be run as two ETSI STFs • May be combined as one STF (to be decided at B56) • Looking for experts to participate in these STFs

  5. Goal of the STFs • Review and update ETSI Technical Working Procedures with respect to standardisation in a multi-SDO context and with a view to interoperability • Demonstrate validation of standards by pragmatic means such as • Walk-throughs • Testbed activities • Testing • Work with MTS, PTCC and Plugtests to define IOT procedures • Define standards feedback process • Will be based on NGN case study • Will make use of testbeds, where possible
