Transition Mentor Breakfast April 2, 2014 Class of 2019 Class Meeting April 2, 2014 Orientation for Parents April 3, 2014 Course Selection Using Family Access during homeroom, students will select the following courses: Period 8 Cycle Electives Language choice – Chinese, French or Spanish (two-year commitment) Band / Instrumental lessons

  6. Transition Math Placement Test - Testing on Thursday, April 24 - Letter will be sent home to parents indicating math placement Individual 6th grade class visits May 2014 Move-up Day June 20, 2014 Students receive and follow 7th grade schedule

  7. Transition Fall 2014 School Orientation / Study Skills Course -- First 8 days of school MS Parents’ Guidance Breakfast -- September MS Mentors / 7th graders meeting

  8. Skyward Parent Access and Student Access Teachers post grades for assignments and assessments Keep track of academic progress Use for course requests / scheduling Monitor attendance and tardies

  15. World Language 2 year commitment Freshman Year: Spanish 2, French 2, Chinese 2 or Spanish 1A or 1B, French 1A or 1B, or Chinese 1* Selection will be made on Skyward

  17. Top Questions from the 6th Graders Can we chew gum? How long are the classes? How long is detention? How long is lunch? When does school end? Do we have the same locker all six years? Are the textbooks online?

  19. Parent Straight Talk Logistics Walk through schedule and set up locker before school starts Locker shelves: great for locker organization  Dress Code: know the policy and co-enforce it
