Plymouth Children’s Integrated Disability Service • Plymouth’s Vision for Children and Young People: ‘We want all our children to live, grow, achieve and exceed in their hopes for the future’ • The Children’s Integrated Disabilities Service is committed to turning this vision into reality by working in partnership with service users to deliver a single point of access for children and young people with a disability up to the age of 18 years • The Disability Discrimination Act defines disability as follows: ‘a person has a disability for the purposes of this act if he has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on his ability to carry out normal day-today activities’

The journey so far… • In the beginning was David Forrest and many of you • Service Manager, Jo Siney, appointed • Project organisation established • 10 work streams and leads identified • PCC teams • Communication and Interaction Team • Sensory Impairment Service • Early Years Inclusion Service • Occupational Therapy • Social Workers • Special Services Team • Line Management by Jo, reporting to Maggie Carter, Assistant Director, Learner & Family Support • PCC budgets brought together

Work completed on the “project to integrate” • Single Point of Contact (‘SPOC’) • integration of OT Service • engagement with parents via Parents Reference Group • Engagement with children and young people • Engagement with staff • Sought premises • All whilst....working on service delivery and “business as usual” • Aiming High / Short Breaks • equipment budget • OT support for educational settings

The Onward Journey • We believe an Integrated Disability Service is the best way to support families • We are going to develop an Integrated Service • We don’t have all the details of how • We need you and parents and service teams to be with us and help us… because We are all committed to improving the lives of children and young people with disabilities
