  2. Problem #1: Solve Using Substitution { 5x + 4y = 32 9x – y = 33 (4 , 3)

  3. Problem #2: Solve Using Substitution { 5x + 2y = 9 x + y = -3 (5 , -8)

  4. Problem #3: Solve Using Substitution { -5x + 3y = 51 y = 10x - 8 (3 , 22)

  5. Problem #4: Solve Using Substitution { 2x - y = 24 x – 9 = -y (11 , -2)

  6. Problem #5: Solve Using Elimination { 3x + 4y = -1 5x - 7y = -70 (-7 , 5)

  7. Problem #6: Solve Using Elimination { -16x + 2y = -2 y = 8x - 1 Infinite Solutions Because they are the same line

  8. Problem #7: Solve Using Elimination { -7x + 10y = 11 -8x + 15y = 34 (7 , 6)

  9. Problem #8: Graph the System of Inequalities { x > -2 x + 2y < 4

  10. Problem #9: A plane traveled 580 miles to Ankara and back. The trip there was with the wind. It took 5 hours. The trip back was into the wind. The trip back took 10 hours. Find the speed of the plane in still air and the speed of the wind. Plane: 87 mph Wind: 29 mph

  11. Problem #10: A collection of thirty-five coins totals $5.35. If the collection consists of only nickels and quarters, how many of each coin is there? Nickels: 17 Quarters: 18

  12. Problem #11: Amanda and Sparky are selling flower bulbs for a school fundraiser. Customers can buy packages of tulip bulbs and bags of daffodil bulbs. Amanda sold 6 packages of tulip bulbs and 12 bags of daffodil bulbs for a total of $198. Sparky sold 7 packages of tulip bulbs and 6 bags of daffodil bulbs for a total of $127. Find the cost each of one package of tulips bulbs and one bag of daffodil bulbs. Tulips: $7 Daffodils: $13

  13. Problem #12: Set up the system of inequalities and a spending function… do not solve! Joanne wants to buy x oranges and y peaches from the store. She must buy at least 5 oranges and the number of oranges can’t be greater than twice the number of peaches. An orange weighs 150 grams and a peach weighs 100 grams. Joanne can carry not more than 3600 grams of fruits home. The store sells oranges for $0.70 each and peaches cost $0.90 each. Find the maximum that Joanne can spend buying the fruits. x > 5 ; x < 2y ; x > 0 ; y > 0 ; 150x + 100y < 3600 ; S = .70x + .90y
