  1. PSSA Tip of the Day!

  2. Read the ENTIRE question and all answer choices carefully! Don’t be fooled! Sometimes one or two of the answers may sound alike, but only one of them is correct. Read all of the choices carefully so you can find the right answer!

  3. Answer the easy questions first, then go back to the more difficult ones. Nobody said you have to answer all the questions in order. HOWEVER, don’t forget to go back and answer the questions you skipped!

  4. Eliminate the answers that you know are wrong! Try to eliminate the answers that don’t make sense! It is much easier to choose the right answer if you are only choosing from two instead of four.

  5. Watch for words such as “all,” “always,” “never,” “none,” and “must.” These words are here to trick you! Don’t let it happen!

  6. Change your answer only if you are certain your first choice is wrong. Most of the time, your first idea is correct, so stick with it! However, always go back and check the passage to be sure. Change your answer only if you find proof that another answer is correct.

  7. When reading a passage, look at the title and pictures first. Try to predict what the passage will be about. Reading the title, looking at pictures, and making predictions gets your brain ready to read. It also keeps your mind focused on the passage. It works!

  8. Use context clues to help you figure out words you don’t understand. You might not know every word you read in a passage. That’s ok! Use context clues to figure it out.

  9. Find evidence in the passage that supports your answer choice. This is VERY important! You MUST find evidence in the passage to support your answer. Don’t make it up!

  10. Most of all, relax! Don’t get nervous or anxious. Just stay focused, and you’ll be great!
