Howdy Buddies! We are so glad to be your pen pals this year. We are excited to get to know you! Our school is called St. John’s Episcopal School. St. John’s goes from pre-K through 8th grade. We have 500 students. We wear uniforms to school. We are in second grade and our teacher is Mrs. Booth. Mrs. .Holt is also a teacher that works with the first and second grade classes. We have 19 students in our class. Our names are Aaron, Ava, Ashley, Blake, Claire B., Claire W., Hadley, Isabelle, Caitlin, Charlie, Hunter, Preston, Meg, Bella, Sam, Serena, Tex, Tyler, and Wil.
We have a class pet named Hot Chocolate. He is a guinea pig. We sit on yoga balls at our desks. We have a smart board and each of us have an iPad that we keep at school. Our desk are arranged in tables and each table is named a different color. We also have a reading table and a round table. Everyone has a class job. We also check the weather each day. We go to school from 8:00 to 3:00. Our day starts with chapel and then we have reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Our enrichment classes are art, music, Spanish, and P.E.. We have P.E. every morning and have recess in the afternoon.
We live in Dallas, Texas. Texas has a lot of countryside, but Dallas is a big city.. We live near White Rock Lake. Some families ride bikes around the lake.
Our weather right now is warm. When we go to school in the morning it is light and we don’t need a coat or sweater. Our winters are not as cold as yours. We will have some cold days, but we have warm days mixed in with the cold days. It doesn’t snow very often in Dallas. We all get very excited when we do get a little snow! A few of the trees are beginning to show a little fall color, but most trees won’t start changing for another month or two. Our high temperature today will be 91 degrees Fahrenheit or 32 degrees Celsius.
The Texas state flower is the bluebonnet. Our state bird Is the mockingbird and the state dog is the Blue Lacy. The Blue Topaz is the state gemstone. The State Fair opened last Friday. Big Tex welcomes everyone to the state fair. He burned last year so there is a new Big Tex this year. We like to play games, ride the rides, and eat cotton candy when we go to the Fair.
We can’t wait to Skype with you and learn about Canada. We are working on our letters and will send them soon! Have a great week! Mrs. Booth’s Class
