    6. In a classroom there is always the possibility of minor bumps and collisions While these mishaps can happen, a good design, especially in heavily used areas such as whole group meeting space, can greatly minimize their potential. 7. In this area you need to have access to materials at your fingertips. I would suggest having a set of drawers to help you keep organized and have them clearly labeled to minimize confusion. At your table you have only 6 chairs simply because small group instruction is exactly that and you should only be working with a maximum of 6 students at this time.In this area you need to have access to materials at your fingertips. 8. Little can be taught or learned in a classroom without order. If a classroom feels disorganized and cluttered, if supplies are is disrepair or cant be found, if children cant concentrate or easily move around the room without bumping into furniture or colliding with each other, then learning will be compromised. 10. To ensure that students self-esteem remains in tact for learning implement, model, and recognize the use of Lifelong Guidelines and Life-skills. The purpose of utilizing Lifelong Guidelines and Life-skills is to provide limits encouraging self-evaluation among the students and to guide them into becoming responsible students, as well as increasing their chances at success. 12. Closely examine your daily and weekly schedule. Where can you you make changes to create more time for teaching and learning. (R. Routman). Students need an established routine so that they know what to expect each day. This will also help to make your transitions run more smoothly. Closely examine your daily and weekly schedule. 13. With little forethought you can outline the most basic classroom procedures and create systems that will be simple to implement. Later, with the students help, you can create additional procedures as the need arises. The list of procedures is your go-to system that helps your students know what default behavior they should at least try in certain situations. But if we want them to get better at self control and responsibility, then what do we tell them? Be Good! The step we too often miss is practice. Children need opportunities under the caring guidance of adults, to practice these essential skills, over and over again, with out criticism or judgment." 17. These strategies will help you to monitor and redirect behavior with minimal disruptions to the flow of your lessons. This is very important because disrupting the flow of lessons can cause more students to become off-task and less learning to take place. These strategies will help you to monitor and redirect behavior with minimal disruptions to the flow of your lessons. 18. These motivations can be part of your goal setting system. Allow students to set goals and monitor their behavior. When students meet their goals it is important to acknowledge their success.
