  2. 2010 implementation of Aeries Student Information System • We now have the ability to identify every student entering and exiting the school district • As a result, we did the following: • Met with all of the high school Principals and Assistant Principals (AP) to address the goal of graduation • Shared the roles and responsibilities of the AP and Registrar • Provided professional development on proper State coding • Required each high school to provide evidence for all of their exits and graduates • District office staff visited each school to verify their process • Reviewed all evidence at the district office

The Focus of Today’s Presentation • The way SAUSD monitors students’ entries and exits • The number of high school students who entered and exited SAUSD from 2007-2010 • The categories and explanation for all exits: graduates, non-graduates, and dropouts • The analysis SAUSD conducts in comparison to CDE’s graduation calculations

  4. GRADE 10: 266 new students GRADE 11: 369 new students GRADE 9 in 2007: 4,837 students + 1,065 new students GRADE 12: 430 new students 313 re-enrollees

Class of 2010 4,837 9th grade students in 2006-07 Dropouts: 439 students Failed CAHSEE Didn’t meet credit requirement No show Transfer to adult education and dropped Jail, Military-over age 18 Non-Graduates: 2,217 students Special Education Certificate of Achievement Died Medical Reason Transfer to another school Transfer out of the country Transfer to college Transfer to a health facility Military/Jail-under age 18, Home School Graduates: 2,781 students Diploma Special Education CAHSEE Exemption Adult Education HS Diploma GED CHSPE Students may be in more than one category so totals won’t add up.

  9. 2007-2010 Cohort Data 2,963 students stayed in SAUSD for four years (61%) 2,781 Graduates; 2,217 Non-Graduates; 439 Dropouts

  10. CDE’s Graduation Rate • The official 2009 CDE graduation rate is 84.6% • The data review found 9 more graduates in the class of 2009. A report is being submitted to CDE • The amended 2009 graduation rate is 85% with these corrections • CDE’s 2010 official graduation rate has not been released • Our estimated 2010 graduation rate is 85%

  11. We looked at every student who entered and exited • We collected the evidence from every high school • We recalculated our graduation rates and dropout numbers • We ensured our data is accurate
