Oyster Re-establishment Program Approximate Cost: $15M Part 1 ($12M): Placement of Cultch Material on Public Oyster Seed Grounds • 855 acres throughout coastal Louisiana • Results expected in 17 months after cultch placement Part 2 ($3M): Upgrade to Existing Sea Grant Oyster Hatchery • Provide a supplemental source of oyster larvae and oyster seed. • Larvae can be released into the water directly over oyster beds with cultch material and/or be set on oyster cultch to create oyster seed.
