  1. UNCSDMajor Group of Children and Youth Representing young people globally in Sustainable Development

  2. What is the Major Group of Children and Youth? Agenda 21 formalized nine categories through which all citizens could participate in the UN activities on achieving sustainable development. These are officially called "Major Groups". The Major Group of Children and Youth (aka MGCY) represents young people (as a segment of civil society) globally in Sustainable Development negotations and processes surrounding the Commissions on Sustainable Development cycle (aka CSD).   3. Who can join…. The MGCY has two types of membership; 1. Individual membership (below the age of 30 years) 2. Group membership (child or youth led organisations).   5. Ok, I joined…what now? We do realise that getting involved is hard. How do you decide what you have time for? What is worthwhile? Will you be interested? Is it fun? There are lots of options.   6. Rio+20…what is it? • Rio+20 is a Sustainable Development conference organised by the UN for governments with some members of Civil Society attending. It is a 3 day event that will focus on two themes Green Economy and Institutional Frameworks.
