Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) – The National Thematic Areas The National Strategy of Intelligent Specialization identifies 5 National Specialization Areas to which the "Country System" should be oriented and the resources foreseen for the 2014-2020 period • Intelligent and sustainable industry, energy and the environment • Health, nutrition, quality of life • Digital Agenda, Smart Communities, intelligent mobility systems • Tourism, cultural heritage and creativity industry • Aerospace and defense

  3. Route to the S3 of Lazio region RIS3 is not a single intervention program: it is implemented with multiple regional actions. It should not be considered a static framework of priorities: it is a strategy in progress, continuously evolving as related to the economy of the territories. • Approval of the first Lazio RIS3 (DGR n ° 478 of 17 July 2014): - identifies the priority issues of RIS3 and the allocation of resources through the process of "entrepreneurial discovery" that aims to bring out the excellence of the territory with prospects of success on the global market. • the identification of the Areas of Specialization (AdS) and the related technological priorities have been the main result of the consultation of local stakeholders with the collaboration of the Ministry of Economic Development • Update of the Lazio S3: redefinition of the Regional Specialization Areas (DGR No. 281/2016)

Priority macro-objectives for Lazio S3 • INNOVATION: making Lazio a "great European innovation region" with an international dimension to allow local players to become part of the international value chain; • RESEARCH: designing and implementing the economy specialization and strengthening the industrial research through innovative technologies; • INTERNATIONALIZATION: to guide Lazio in paths orienting the competitive capacity of the entrepreneurial fabric towards markets of strategic interest (MENA and BRICS countries in primis).

Unversities Science and Technology Parks Research Centers Players Centers for innovation and technological transfer Technological Districts and Clusters The regional ecosystem of Research & Innovation of Lazio Lazio Region is the richest reservoir of "human capital" dedicated to Research in Italy (14,000 units, including teachers and researchers). It is the so called "Lazio system of knowledge". Lazio has the highest concentrationin Italy and among the most significant in Europe, of Universities and Research Centers (both public and private): 12 University Universities, 4 University Centers of Excellence, 48 Research Institutions and Institutes, 218 Research Laboratories, 2 Science and Technology Parks and 3 Technological Districts.

  7. Indispensable presence of universities / research centers, widespread entrepreneurship and qualified human resources. (Source: www.ricercaitaliana.it) The Lazio Region, with State and Public Authorities, Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) and Ministry of University and Research (MIUR), has constituted: - the Lazio Aerospace Technology District (DTA) allocation of € 60 millions, among the main promoters of the National Aerospace Technology Cluster (CTNA) - the Technological District of the Biosciences of Lazio (DTB) allocation of € 60 millions, among the main promoters: CTN Life Sciences "ALISEI“ - the Technological District for Cultural Heritage and Cultural Activities of Lazio (DTC) initial allocation of € 40 millions. Among the main promoters: CTN on Technologies for Smart Communities (TSC) Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) of Lazio – Technological Districts

Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) of Lazio Purpose of the Technological Districts: • strengthen the design, operational and prototype capacity of research for applications in the industrial system • promote and support the generation of new high-tech companies • favorthe qualitative and quantitative growth of companies and the training of existing professionals • facilitate investments in technological and technical-scientific infrastructures • consolidate and improve the competitiveness and visibility of sectors in the international arena.

Bogotà/Cundinamarca - Lazio Pairing Pilot Projects • Creation of a single help desk in both regions • to facilitate students or researchers to find partners in the other region to do internships, stays or thesis. • Creation of a Joint Observatory on emerging trends - in the Agri-food and Gastronomy sector • Creation of virtual joint laboratories - in topics of common interest • Agreement Between CNR/ENEA and Cundinamarca’s • Industries: to improve the development capacity of products in the cosmetics sector • Central University of Bogotá: to support the DTI in the development of prototypes • Open Days in R&D and Business in both Regions - To seek for researchers and entrepreneurs interested in developing the possibilities of the partner region.
