  2. HOW DO YOU DEFINE ENTREPRENEURSHIP? Become a thesaurus—what words would you use to define this term?

  3. WHAT IS ENTREPRENEURSHIP? • The process of recognizing an opportunity in the market. • Consider an industry • Consider your community • Consider what you know well • Consider where you see a gap that should be filled

  4. WHY BE AN ENTREPRENEUR? • Be your own boss! • Do something you love! • Be creative • Set your own schedule • Ability to make more money • Recognition in your community

  5. WHY NOT BE AN ENTREPRENEUR? • Requires long work hours at the sacrifice of your personal time • Uncertain income • Taking the risk of being completely responsible • Taking the financial risk

  6. I HAVE A GREAT IDEA! Put your ideas to work with the Entrepreneurship Participating-Independent (ENPI) Category in DECA Competition! Prove to a judge that YOUR ideais the best investment!

  7. ADVICE FOR STARTING AN ENPI • Be as realistic as you possibly can—if your family reads your plan and they wouldn’t invest, why would a judge? • Details are important! Your facts support your claim that this is THE BEST idea. • Use resources in your community to be realistic. • Believe in yourself and your idea; any investor will respond to that confidence.
