Smokers smoke… • Is responsible for 3,000 lung cancer deaths and 35,000 deaths from heart disease • Is also responsible for causing between 150,000 to 300,000 lower respiratory tract infections in infants and children under the age of 18 months.

What is Secondhand Smoke? • Exhaled mainstream smoke and sidestream smoke are types of secondhand smoke, or environmental tobacco smoke. • Sidestream smoke is smoke that enters the air from a burning cigarette, cigar or pipe • Mainstream smoke is smoke that is directly inhaled into the smoker’s mouth and lungs.
