  2. “The more the hats are used, the more they will become part of the thinking culture…” Anyone in an organization should use these methods so things like meetings aren’t used unwisely with things like arguing. If you use these methods, you will have “…a brisk and disciplined approach.”

  3. “At first people might feel a little awkward about using the different hats…” THE AWKWARDNESS PASSES!!!!! Soon, the convenience of the system becomes apparent. The first time you use the hats, it will most likely be in the form of a request to use one of the hats or to use a different one besides the black hat because people tend to get stuck using the black hat.

  4. “The essence of each hat is easy to remember.” The hats are very easy to remember! So, lets review!

  5. WHITE HAT! • Virgin white! • Pure facts! • Figures and information!

  6. RED HAT! • Seeing red! • Emotions and feelings! • Also hunch and intuition!

  7. BLACK HAT! • Devil’s advocate! • Negative judgment! • Why it will not work!

  8. YELLOW HAT! • Sunshine! • Brightness and optimism! • Positive! • Constructive! • Opportunity!

  9. GREEN HAT! • Fertile! • Creative! • Plants springing from seeds! • Movement! • Provocation!

  10. BLUE HAT! • Cool and control! • Orchestra conductor! • Thinking about thinking!

  11. “…at this point I want to make a yellow hat remark. Try it out for yourself.” And if you think you’re too smart to use this system! YOU’RE WROOOOOONG. Try it out! You’ll benefit from it!!!
